Hi folks,
We are thrilled to be a part of a very special show coming up this Tuesday. Jon Rauhouse, the genius pedal steel player behind Neko Case, Calexico, Old 97's and many more, will be performing with his 6-piece band right here in New Haven at Cafe Nine. If you are a fan of great American music and creepy, reverb-drenched Hawaiian guitars, then this is one show you will be talking about for years to come.

Mercy Meadows will open the show at 9pm sharp and we will once again feature our newest mamber, the world-famous Steve Baldino on guitar.

Big thanks to those of you who made it out to the benefit last month. We raised almost $700 for the church.

Well, folks, Juliana has left for New Jersey. I'm not saying she's not going to be playing with us again, but it's going to be a little sporadic. We helped her move a couple weeks ago and it was a hoot. Speaking of hoots, a week after they moved we went over to grab a couple things from the basement and there was the landlord's wife getting a full-body tan right out in the yard!!

Anyhow, that's not why I'm writing. It's because we have a gig coming up for a very special purpose. You see, a church burned down to the ground and the congregation needs to build it back up. Please come out to Cafe Nine on August 18th and help with the cause. We are joining Hoe, The Shellye Valauskas Experience and Anne Marie Menta. Proceeds will go to the Seymour United Methodist Church. Mercy Meadows may also be joined by a special guest artist for this show.

Added a couple of shows this month. Wednesday the 21st will be an acoustic set (ie. no Tom) at The Space with a plethora of bands from all over our beautiful state. As my fingers are a bit numb from checking the badger traps (sorry kids, no food tonight), here is how The Space sums up the evening:
  • When Phoenix Tree, from Danbury, CT was asked who they sound like, they replied: "We've been told we're a cross between Alice in Chains and Neil Young, circa 1975".
  • Blended Groove is young, but full of good vibes and great attitude. Their jams are sharp and immediately accessible. Clap and sway along.
  • With a strikingly different mix of rock and hip hop, New York based SIX7 is surely an act to see. "Six7 rocks audiences with songs that savage America's love affair with "reality" TV, celebrities and lawsuits"
  • What do you get when you combine one part country with one part psychadelic rock? None other than Mercy Meadows straight from New Haven, CT.
  • With four strong, individualized music personalities, and four sets of influences and experience to draw from, the original material produced by The Way Up has only furthered such stylistic defiance.
The following Saturday, Feb 24, finds us at the fabulous Martini's Cafe in Orange with another all-star lineup, including The Shellye Valauskas Experience, The Hickups, and The Saturday Night Martini's Bellydancers. Now these bands share more members than a West Virginia family tree, so look out for some band-swappin' interaction.

Happy New Year! What have you been doing? While you were slacking off and stuffing your face with bon bons, Tom was getting his book published. Congrats, Tom!

As you are aware, we will be performing with the full band at Cafe Nine on Jan 30th. We just found out that Calvin DeCutlass from The Tires will be joining us. Will you??

Two new opportunities to see Mercy Meadows live. See Shows page.

Mercy Meadows will be performing at the Battlecats' First Annual Christmas party at Martini's in Orange. What could this possibly entail? Come and find out. More info on the Shows page.

You may have noticed an awesome state-of-the-art depiction on our front page of an eagle attacking a moose. I wish I could take credit for the idea, but I saw it first here. All I did really was fix up the graphics a bit. Also, in my version the eagle never gets the poor moose.

We are now on myspace.

Man, this website really blows. When are you guys going to get your stuff together and get your groove on?

I don't know. We're kind of busy these days. Between drinkin and baggin deer, there's not a lot of time to fuss around with technology we don't understand. You're better off just setting out in the woods with a bottle of whiskey and a couple of 2X4s and just...well, you'll know what to do when you get there. You'll just know.

New shows added. See "shows" page for more details.
